Il Giardino
Last week I continued my quest to find the best pizza in Xela, and to be quite honest I believe I have found it.
I can’t say that many times I have thought “Man, I really want to make love to this pizza”, number 1 because it is illegal and number 2 because people might look at me funny. But it was definitely on my mind during this meal.
The restaurant is Il Giardino. The location is west on 8a Calle to 19 Callejon. There you will walk into a garage and then inside the restaurant. The restaurant is very spacious, and the food, fantastic.

I had a medium hawaiana (pineapple, ham, olive) pizza. This is about as close to good pizza from the states that I have had. The crust, sauce, toppics…excelente. It rivals Bazbeaux’s in Indianapolis for those of you in the know.
My rating: I want to make love to this pizza.
Hike To Baul
A couple students and I took a trek to a local mountain outside of Xela on Saturday called Baul.

The trek was about 40 minutes up a dirt trail and then at the top of Baul was a public park. At the park was a mayan statue and a slide made out of concrete that reminded you of those old oil slicked slides at the fair that you used to ride sitting on a potato sack. Only with this slide we had to sit on cardboard boxes and/or plastic bottles.

The only thing about the slide was that at the very end of the slide was a very small platform and if you don’t stop quickly you either hit the wall or fall over it, a long way.
Here’s a video of Max and Connor going down the huge concrete slide:
On the way down there were some beutiful views of Xela and vegetable farms at Almolonga.
Il Cuartito
Last Thursday night almost all of the students at the school decided to take a break from the Spanish train to enjoy a few beers at a local bar called Il Cuartito.
