Royal Paris

I have been to Royal Paris a few times in my stay here. Everytime I go their food is continuously good, and they have a very good atmosphere.

Royal Paris is located on the second floor of 14a Avenida and close to I believe 5 Calle. They serve many different kinds of food but are known for their french specialties and their sandwiches.

The last time I went there I had a delicious fried mozzarella and tomato sandwich.

At the time of this writing they are showing movies every Tuesday night free with your dinner. I went with friends to see Brokeback Mountain there (Yes Jimmy, I saw it again), around the untimely death of Heath Ledger.

All in all a great atmosphere and great food.

My rating: ¡Buen trabajo!

Cardinale’s

I continued my quest for great pizza this week with a stop off at Cardinale’s. I have eaten twice at this restaurant, because it is pretty good Italian food in general.

Cardinale’s is a restaurant ran by an Italian American ex-pat who landed in Xela and started this restaurant. The atmosphere is really great with an insane amount of wine bottles hanging on the walls. It’s located on 14 Avenida and close to 4 Calle.

I had forgotten that this restaurant is also a favorite of my family’s. While I was there I ran into my host Mom’s sister and her husband.

I ordered a pizza with salami, ham, and mushrooms (can’t remember the spanish name of it). The pizza was pretty good. For me it needed a little more sauce but the crust was outstanding.

My Rating: Better Than Average

Aguas Amargus

We took a trek to a place near Zunil (home of San Simon) to a natural hot springs called Aguas Amargas.

We began our trek by chicken bus to Zunil and once in Zunil we talked to a guy with a truck who agreed to take us to Aguas Amargas for a little bit of money.

After riding in the back of the truck for about 15 minutes we finally arrived. This place was like a little oasis amidst some vegetable farms. They offered pools with natural warm water as well as private baths.

I don’t have too much to say that you can’t see in the pictures other than it was very relaxing and very warm. That night I slept like a wee baby.
